Introduction:  Elite is a performance squad dedicated to swimmers who are committed to the pursuit of excellence and reaching their full potential. Swimmers are supported with individual development needs through focused stroke, fitness and conditioning techniques. Elite Squad member goals are to increase overall training capacity alongside developing skills in flexibility, core strength, coordination, proprioception and race strategy.  Our Elite performance squad is for London Regional, National and International level swimmers. Being part of this squad is a privilege, not a right and its members must fully support and contribute to the positive ethos and values of Bromley Swimming Club.

Criteria for squad entry: 

  • Swimmers in Elite squad will have achieved or show potential to achieve national qualification.
  • Attend all agreed training sessions per week (minimum 90 %) in addition to at least one S&C session. 
  • Demonstrate a consistent work ethic with an Elite mindset and approach to swimming.
  • Be committed to a year-round training programme and continue to focus on drills, fitness and skill acquisition.
  • Proven to have a positive influence on the culture of previous squads.
  • Enter and compete in all meets as outlined by coach inclusive of Arena League.
  • Understand how to use a pace clock and knowledge of all personal best times.
  • Be a positive role model respect your club, coach and fellow swimmers.
  • Entry into Elite squad is through the attainment of the above performance criteria in addition to displaying the following core values; maturity, dedication, coachability, perseverance, time keeping, sportsmanship and loyalty.

 

 

Exit Criteria: 

  • Swimmers who do not attend sufficient open meets when invited to do so inclusive of; National Arenal League, Kent Junior League, Kent Relays, Club Championships, Counties, Regionals and Nationals.
  • Swimmers who decline to swim at Arena League for any reason will be putting their place in the squad at risk at the discretion of the head coach.
  • Anyone who does not to contribute positively to the squad culture.
  • Any behaviours deemed to negatively impact the squad.
  • Failure to achieve the required competitive level based on age and performance.

 

Pathways:

  • For swimmers unable to demonstrate progress given a reasonable time or meet the performance levels, attendance levels and criteria based on age will be moved to Gold Squad.

Age: The minimum age for athletes entering this squad is 13 years old. Any exceptions on entry to Elite squad will be at the discretion of the head coach.

Targeted Competitions:

  • The aim at these competitions will be to maximise swimmers’ performance.
  • Competitions will take place at the end of a training cycle where physiological preparation should be optimal.
  • Event focus should be around primary and secondary events and agreed with your coach before entry.
  • Any swimmer wishing to attend a competitions outside of the proposed gala list is required to consult with the head coach beforehand.
