WHITEHORSE LEAGUE Whitehorse League Round III On 25th June Bromley took part in round 3 of the Whitehorse League. There were 6 personal best swims throughout the evening and 28 top 3 finishes. We finished the gala with 173 points, meaning we are currently 3rd in the league with 744 points, 39.5 points behind Beckenham. Congratulations to those of you who achieved a PB: Theo Haslam, Nicola Kleist, Joe Erb, Lilly Dabin, Lilly Rayner and Louisa Knight. Well done also to those of you with a top 3 finish: Alex Cheeseman, Joe Dobb, Taylor McCarthy, Theo Haslam, Joe Erb, James Brinkley, Lilly Dabin, Felix Haslam, Louisa Knight, Alex Din, Emma Wade, Chloe Dobb, Emily Bone, John Furness and Matthew Rogers. The fourth round of this league will be held in July. David Court -- Whitehorse League Round II On the 2nd April Bromley competed in the second round of the Whitehorse League. We gave a strong performance with 16 personal best swims and 28 top-three finishes leading us to a third place finish overall in the gala. With 571 league points we are currently in second position in the league behind Orpington Ojays. Congratulations to the following swimmers for achieving a personal best: Alex Cheeseman, Joe Dobb, Taylor McCarthy, Robert Shorter, Matthew Knight, Lilly Dabin, Heather Perfect, George Carter, Chloe Dobb, Theo Haslam, Nicola Kleist, Cameron Butler and Ellen Scholes. Well done also to those of you who achieved a top 3 finish in your individual event: Alex Cheeseman, Joe Dobb, Taylor McCarthy, Emily Bone, James Brinkley, Felix Haslam, Theo Haslam, Felicity Hamilton-Cox, Oliver Reynolds, Phoebe Hampson, Matthew Rogers, Chloe Dobb, Michael Eagling, Robert Shorter and Ben Kelleher. Round 3 will be held in June. David Court --Saturday the 21st January saw the first round of six galas that make up the Whitehorse League. Bromley faced Orpington Ojays, Beckenham, Saxon Crown, Erith and District and White Oak, with a team that included new team members from our younger age groups. There were several excellent performances and the team looked the strongest it has ever done at a Whitehorse gala. Special congratulations to those of you who achieved PB swims: Joe Dobb, Theo Haslam, Matthew Knight, Lilly Dabin, Alexander Din, George Carter, Alex Cheeseman and Ellen Scholes. Also well done to the Men's Open Medley Relay team (Ben Kelleher, Oliver Lister, James Brinkley and Richard Knight) for breaking the relay club record. Overall Bromley came second by just 11 points, an excellent start to the league. Well done to everyone who competed and let's keep up the hard work in training for the next round which will take place on 2nd April. David Court (February 2011) -- On Saturday evening we turned in our best performance of the year in this league, still coming third but only missing the top spot by 11 points. It was a very close gala. Well done to the large number of you who performed pbs on the night under hideously hot circumstances: Ellen Scholes, Theo Haslam, Nicola Kleist, Richard Knight, Natalie French, Tanglin Ireland, Alex Din, Heather Perfect, Chloe Dobb, Henri Shorter, Cameron Butler, Gabby Eastment, and Gina Deave. A special congratulations to Oliver Lister and James Brinkley who both lowered their own club records after having spent a long day competing up at Crystal Palace and still turning out for the team in the evening. Well done chaps. Report by David Court (June 2010) --With a much improved performance in round 2, we finished 2nd on the night with a fantastic 31 top 3 finishes (65%), 9 PBs and 1 new Club Record. This pushes us up to 5th in the league this year, just 3 points behind Beckenham who are in 2nd place. Special congratulations to James Brinkley who broke the 50m freestyle club record, with a time that would qualify him for the National Championships. Congratulations to the following swimmers who won their individual events; Benedict Kelleher (50m Backstroke & 50m Freestyle), Felicity Hamilton-Cox (50m Breaststroke) and James Brinkley (50m Freestyle). Well done to both the Boys 15/U and Men's Open teams for winning their 4 x 50 m Medley events and the Ladies Open team for winning their 4 x 50 m Medley & Freestyle events.
